UK Smoking Ban
In February 2006 the UK government implemented a no smoking ban in all public places within the UK. The ban was due to come into effect by Summer 2007.

When is Smoking Banned?

- Smoking Ban Wales - 2nd April 2007
- Smoking Ban Scotland - March 2006
- Smoking Ban Northern Ireland - 30th April 2007
How Will This Affect Me?
If you are a smoker living in the UK, then the smoking ban applies to you! All indoor public places are affected by the smoking ban, you could be fined £50 for breaking the ban!
The banning of smoking in public places applies to the following public areas:
- All indoor, or enclosed public spaces
- Public transport and work vehicles used by more than one person
- Staff smoking rooms and indoor smoking areas will no longer be allowed, smokers will have to go outside
- The greatest affect will be felt in Pubs, Clubs, Bars, Restaurants and Sporting Venues

This ban affects you whether you like it or not! There are penalties for breaking the ban, and there are trained officers to enforce this ban! Owners of venues will also be fined if they let you smoke or fail to display these signs - so do not expect to get away with it!
Smoking in smokefree premises or work vehicles: a fixed penalty notice of £50 imposed on the person smoking. Or a maximum fine of £200 if prosecuted and convicted by a court
Failure to display no-smoking signs: a fixed penalty notice of £200 imposed on whoever manages or occupies the smokefree premises or vehicle. Or a maximum fine of £1000 if prosecuted and convicted by a court.
Failing to prevent smoking in a smokefree place: a maximum fine of £2500 imposed on whoever manages or controls the smokefree premises or vehicle if prosecuted and convicted by a court. There is no fixed penalty notice for this offenc
